Wigan could have their influential captain and loose forward, Sean O'Loughlin, back for their Challenge Cup semi-final against Warrington on Saturday. O'Loughlin has missed Wigan's recent revival in Super League with a knee injury, but will probably be given until the day before the match to prove his fitness. "We've been going all right without him, but he's a world-class player," said his coach, Brian Noble.

Temepara George's quest for the perfect netball game took on a new lease of life when the Silver Ferns squad was named yesterday. George first played for New Zealand in 1996, and in the following 11 years amassed 59 caps, a world championship title and a Commonwealth Games gold medal. She last played for New Zealand in the Silver Ferns' British tour of 2007.

You're getting younger players actually getting the opportunity to play against Australia earlier, so when they do make the Silver Ferns, it's not that big a gap.   -Temepara George

Brett Seymour will have to agree to one of the most stringent contracts in Warriors' history if the five-eighth is to join the club next season. The Warriors are in advanced discussions with the troubled former Broncos and Sharks playmaker and a deal could be done later this week. Seymour was sacked from the Broncos in 2007 after allegedly head-butting a woman at a Brisbane pub and was also shown the door by the Sharks this season after two incidents.

Anything that did occur would be the tightest contract we have had in terms of expectations.   -Wayne Scurrah
